Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of
It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, if gamers will actually want to use it is another question, as there's only one Springfield car everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.
The Dream Vehicle
Although most players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car Homer designed himself in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. Not even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck showcased in season 10. Rather, fans will obtain the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable element of the series. And for players who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
But that's not the sole customization item from the series coming to the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a official announcement, the challenges will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"
Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's Hedges player banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive rims featuring a TV showing The Simpsons' opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
Launch Dates and Crossover Details
This event lines up with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new playable area of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
